Where do I put the soil moisture sensor?

Place the sensor near the roots of a plant growing in a location that best represents the conditions in your field. This can be near a dropper or at any other location that is typical for the plants’ water supply. Be sure to always insert the sensor vertically at a depth of least 10 cm.

Where do I put the temperature and air humidity sensor?

For the Basic options, place the sensor as close as you can to a plant in a location that best represents the local microclimatic conditions.

For the Premium options, place the first sensor directly next to the plant so that it can gather data on the prevailing microclimate. Install the second sensor as an ambient sensor outside the field, greenhouse, or foil tunnel. Make sure the ambient sensor is not shaded by plastic sheeting, roofing elements, or vegetation which would distort the measurements of the conditions outside the field.

What tank models does the Deepfield Connect Milk Monitoring work with?

Deepfield Connect Milk Monitoring is suitable for all standard horizontal tanks with a height of up to 1.50 m. It may also be suitable for higher tanks in some cases. Please get in touch with our experts if you need more information.

Do I have to install the transmitter on the agitator’s motor or may I mount it elsewhere?

You must install the transmitter on the tank’s agitator motor. The transmitter collects motor vibration data required by the system.

The warning light is flashing red. How do I reset it?

A flashing red light is a critical alert indicating a hygiene risk. It cannot be turned off manually. In the event, you will have to empty the milk tank and carry out a complete cleaning cycle. This eliminates the hygiene risk. The warning light then extinguishes automatically.

How and where do I immerse the sensors in the tank?

The sensors must be installed when the tank is empty to ensure that the following requirements are met. If possible, the tip of the sensor should barely touch the bottom of the tank. Please make sure the tank’s drain is not obstructed and that the sensor chain cannot get tangled in the agitator. If your tank’s drain is very close to the sensor when you go to install it, you can attach the sensor chain off-center at the manhole.

My sensor looks to be damaged. What do I do?

If you see cracks in the sensor’s transparent sleeve, pull the sensor out of the milk tank and contact us directly. Slight dents and bumps that may have occurred during shipping or installation can result in cracking. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

How do I clean the sensor chain?

A regular tank cleaning suffices to clean the sensor chain, provided it remains in the tank during the cleaning process.

Has the tank monitor been approved by my dairy?

That depends on the dairy. Please contact yours to learn more.

Smartphone app

How do I add a new monitoring station?

You can always add a new monitoring station using the bottom 'Create new field’ tile in the 'Fields' panel. Once you select this tile, you will be prompted to name the field and select a crop. Use ‘Next’ to go to the next point and select the menu item 'New monitoring station' under ' Incorporate monitoring station’. Scan the QR code on the back of the transmitter and then follow the instructions on your phone.

Can I export my data?

You can always add a new monitoring station using the bottom 'Create new field’ tile in the 'Fields' panel. Once you select this tile, you will be prompted to name the field and select a crop. Use ‘Next’ to go to the next point and select the menu item 'New monitoring station' under ' Incorporate monitoring station’. Scan the QR code on the back of the transmitter and then follow the instructions on your phone.

How do I add other users' fields to my app?

You need an access code to do this. Have the other user send it to you via the menu item 'Share' in the main menu.

This is how that is done: Open the main menu in the Field Monitoring app, select your user name at the top left – for example, MaxMuster@Musterhof.de – and then select the menu item ‘Release data'. Enter the access code and then confirm your entry with 'Activate access code'. Now you can easily switch back and forth between different sets of shared data under your own user name.

How many fields of other users can I add to my app? And how do I sort them?

There is no limit to the number of fields. However, the user cannot change the order of fields, at least not yet in this version.

My field only shows the data from an hour ago. Is there something wrong with the transmitter?

No, everything is fine. At non-critical temperatures, the device only sends the monitored data once an hour to conserve battery power. If the temperature drops to a level where frost is likely, it sends this information every ten minutes.

[Translate to Englisch:] Es ist nicht möglich, eine neue Messstation einzubinden.

If you get the message 'Please enter a valid serial number', the phone has not properly scanned the QR code. Your best option in this case is to reenter the 12-digit serial number (on the device next to the QR code) manually. If the ‘Next’ button stays gray, the transmitter is already registered to another account. In this case, ask the transmitter’s primary user for an access code. If the transmitter is brand-new, please contact Deepfield Connect by sending an e-mail to deepfield.connect@de.bosch.com or by calling +49 711 811 43607.

Alerts arrive with some delay. Why is that?

From time to time, you may not receive alerts promptly if mobile reception is poor or the mobile provider’s network drops out. If this problem persists, please contact Deepfield Connect by sending an e-mail to deepfield.connect@de.bosch.com or by calling +49 711 811 43607.

I got a message that the sensor is not connected properly. What do I do?

Please contact us via the app’s 'Help and feedback' option. This way, we get the details about your transmitter and sensor configuration. If the problem persists, we will send you a free replacement.

I forgot my password and/or user name. What do I do?

If you forgot just your password, you can reset it here. If your user name has also slipped your mind, please contact us by sending an e-mail to deepfield.connect@de.bosch.com stating your customer and order numbers. Please understand that we cannot provide any information about user data by phone.

I shared my data with another user via the ‘Share data’ option. This user can access my fields’ monitored values, but is not authorised to change the settings. Why is that?

Only the owner is authorised to change settings such as threshold levels and alerts. The person with whom data has been shared may merely read the monitored data. Under no circumstances should you communicate your user name and password to third parties.

It looks as though the monitored data is not being updated in the Fields overview. Is there any way of checking this?

A small clock symbol appears in the Fields overview if the monitored data has not been updated. The device will send the data as soon as a network connection is re-established. No data is lost.

The monitored values vary from sensor to sensor when I install several sensors. Can that be right?

Yes. The sensors detect the microclimate and soil moisture at a specific position. Temperatures and soil conditions may vary slightly at spots that are just a few metres apart. This is why it is so important to choose a location for the monitoring system that best represents the prevailing conditions in the field.

My app says that I did not install the product properly. What do I do?

The transmitter must be installed with the cable connector facing downwards. This is the only way to ensure it works even in heavy rain.

The indicated temperature or air humidity is too high or low to be plausible. What could cause that?

This could indicate a damaged sensor. Please contact us via the app’s 'Help and feedback' option. This way, we get the details about your transmitter and sensor configuration. If the problem persists, we will send you a free replacement.

For how long is a field’s data stored?

The data for any given field is stored for as long as that field exists in the monitoring system. If the field is deleted using the Deepfield Connect app, all data for this field is also deleted. This way, you retain full control over your data.

Installation

Where do I find the Deepfield Connect transmitter's registration code?

The QR code and serial number are printed on the back of the transmitter. You can either scan the code with your smartphone's camera or enter the serial number manually.

How can I tell if the field is getting a strong enough mobile signal for the system?

An LED on the transmitter indicates the signal strength when you first install it. Afterwards, you can view the signal strength conveniently on the Deepfield Connect app.

To check the signal on the transmitter, hold a magnet against the indentation. The LED starts flashing blue to tell you it is checking the signal strength. Once it completes its scan, the LED’s colour changes briefly to:

  • Green: Strong signal
  • Yellow: Adequate signal
  • Red: Signal too weak; please change transmitter location

I want to move my installed Deepfield Connect system to another location. Can I do that?

Sure, no problem. You can easily move a system that is already operating to any other location. Just remember to check the signal strength at your new location.

What purpose does the Deepfield Connect transmitter serve?

The transmitter serves to transmit monitored data to the Bosch IoT Cloud for it to be viewed on your smartphone – anytime and anywhere.

Where can I get more information?

You will find all the information posted on our product support pages:

Can rain or water impair the product’s functions?

Not if the Deepfield Connect transmitter is set up properly. If the transmitter’s cable connector is pointing downwards, it is installed correctly.

I don't have my magnet anymore. What should I do?

If you have lost the supplied magnet, you can also use a sufficiently strong, commercially available magnet to activate the transmitter.
